Coach Simone Inzaghi prepares to face an Atalanta team Lazio ‘know well’ and expects an ‘intense and beautiful match’ against La Dea.
The two finished inside the top four in Serie A last term and Inzaghi highlighted the similar growth at both sides in recent years.
Inzaghi expects ‘two organised teams’ and has experienced that ‘anything can happen’ against Gian Piero Gasperini’s men.
“We know the strengths of the opponent,” Inzaghi said at a press conference. “Atalanta are a team we know well.
“They have always been intense and a beautiful challenge. We have had an excellent journey for years.
“There will be two organised teams, each with their own methodology. Anything can always happen against Atalanta, from 0-3 to 3-3, to the return match, then the Final of the Coppa Italia.
“Atalanta 45 days ago deserved access to the semi-final, we must not forget that.
“We have to be as intense as they are. We face an organised opponent and they’re not easy to play against.”
Inzaghi said Lazio managers work to ‘satisfy’ him in the current transfer market and believes they will close when Wesley Hoedt and Andreas Pereira arrive from Southampton and Manchester United respectively.
“For all the coaches, the transfer market is giving us some turbulence and we want it to end soon,” the coach added.
“The club is trying to satisfy me; we will have many games and we’re late. After the match with Inter and the break, I will have the full team.
“I think it will be closed [after Hoedt and Pereira], but for now my attention is on Atalanta.
“Pereira is an important player who can alternate between midfield and attack. He joins a tried and tested group, we are confident.”
